Item description

#AGSAZKA This sale is for one (1) Dragon Fruit - 'Edgar's Baby - (HYLOCEREUS HYBRID) Dragon fruit grows on the Hylocereus cactus, also known as the Honolulu queen. Flowers on this cactus open only at night. The plant is native to southern Mexico and Central America. Today, Dragon fruit is grown all over the world. Common names for the fruit are pitaya, pitahaya and strawberry pear. The most common variety has bright red/pink skin, green scales and Pink flesh with black seeds. The fruit is low in calories and high in fiber and antioxidants. These 6-8" plants come in 2.5" x 2.5" x 3.5" deep pots. Cultivation Dragon fruit prefer a warmer climate, but can tolerate short periods of cold, down to 45 degrees. It will do best in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-12. In colder zones, Dragon fruit can be grown in a container and brought indoors or under cover to protect from cold. Branches are vining and can be heavy requiring support. Soil should be neutral to slightly acidic and well draining. Water lightly during vegatative growth, more during flowering and fruiting.
