Item description
Hardcover. 8vo. Charles Scribner's Sons. 1901. 360 pgs.
Illustrated with Black and White Plates.
First Edition/First Printing.
Bound in decorated cloth with gilt titles present to the spine and front board, with green design of trees present to the front board. Ernest Thompson Seton (August 14, 1860 - October 23, 1946) was an author (published in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the US), wildlife artist, founder of the Woodcraft Indians, and one of the founding pioneers of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Seton also influenced Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting. His notable books related to Scouting include The Birch Bark Roll and The Boy Scout Handbook. He is responsible for the appropriation and incorporation of what he believed to be American Indian elements into the traditions of the BSA.
Measures about 8" Pre-owned in good condition with some age appropriate wear. Boards have light wear present to the extremities of the boards (boards are lightly sunned at the spine). Ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Also, a couple of the black and white plate illustrations have pulled loose, a few may be in the wrong spot, and we think 1 or 2 are missing.
