Item description

Pre-viewed for quality and both tapes played great on my Sony deck despite their EP modes. 'Sea Monster' sourceprint was relatively undamaged with good color. The 'Megalon' sourceprint color is fine but the print has a lot of damage: speckles, dirt, sound comes and goes and there is no sound on the prologue/preview until the title card comes in the begining. This is in the film and not a defect of the tape. But it will have to do for now as both films are Out Of Print (OOP) and no longer being produced in any format. Oversized double wide box has nice gloss and color and a light crease on the bottom portion of both spines. GODZILLA vs. the SEA MONSTER (1966): The positive valuation of Godzilla, the monster representing the force unleashed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki against Japan, is enhanced by associating the bad monster in this movie with a totalitarian organization seeking world domination: Red Bamboo. While Godzilla engages Ebirah in battle, Mothra saves those who have been subjugated by the Reds, organizing an airlift to evacuate people from an island before it explodes. The film has its humorous moments as Godzilla reveals himself far more adept at football as he and Ebirah play with an enomous rock at the start of their fight. As for Ebirah, the giant crab or lobster, this remained its only star turn: it was torn limb from limb by Godzilla in the film's climactic fight. GODZILLA vs. MEGALON (1973): Stationed under an ocean, the Seatopians plan to conquer Earth with Gaigan (metal bird monster with a buzz saw in its stomach) and Megalon (a new metal cockroach monster with with a death ray). Godzilla teams up with Jet Jaguar, a brightly colored Ultraman-like cyborg that can change its size to fight the bad monsters. The Seatopians wish to take revenge on the surface people for the damage they inflicted on the Seatopian civilization with nuclear tests. The human star is a little boy. When the monsters battle, its on a barren desert; no more costly model cities to topple. But the special effects are expertly done and it looks as if the series was begining to revive.
