Item description

Wilt Chamberlain, pictured here during his time with the iconic Harlem Globetrotters, was a true pioneer in the world of basketball. His innovative approach and influence on the sport led to several rule changes in the early stages of the NBA's establishment. These changes, such as widening the lane, instituting offensive goaltending, banning dunking the ball during the free throw process, and making it illegal to inbound the ball over the backboards, were pivotal in shaping the game we know today. Chamberlain was known for his height and dominance with many of the most well-known teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers and, later, perhaps the most iconic franchise in the league, the Los Angeles Lakers. Where he would help transform the team during his career, that would inspire following players in the decades to come. Chamberlain's style of play would also transform the game and bring it into the modern era; these moves included the fade away and the finger roll, which gave the game a new sense of style and control previously unseen. He also set numerous scoring records during his career, and he remains the only player to average at least thirty points and twenty rebounds in a single season, a feat that Chamberlain would accomplish seven times. This photograph of Chamberlain remains one of the most recognizable pictures in sporting history and immediately transports the viewer back in time.
