This lithograph titled, Love scene (Liebesszene) was created by German artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in 1908. Kirchner was born May 1880 in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria and became one of the most influential German Expressionist painters, and a leading force in the Die Brücke art group that was active in Berlin before World War I. He was an admirer of Albrecht Dürer, a 15th century German woodblock artist and printmaker, and Kirchner revived the ancient art of woodblock printing.
