Small oil on canvas portrait of a girl by a famous listed Mexican artist Reynaldo Torres (1932-2014). Double framed. Signed, not titled, not dated. Circa 1960s. It is believed that the girl is the artist's daughter who he painted at different periods of her life. Great condition of the painting, good condition of the frame. Size of the frame is 19 1/4" x 17 1/4" X 1 3/4" D. Art work size is 9.5" X 7.5". The frame is solid wood painted crackled gold over burgundy red. The canvas part of the frame is in great condition, no stains. The back of the painting has a postcard featuring one of the artist's paintings of a young bullfighter with the artist's studio address in Mexico, D.F. in 1960s-1980s. About Artist Reynaldo Torres is a renowned Mexican taurine artist, especially famous for depicting iconic Mexican toreo and bullfight scenes. His paintings are easily recognizable by characteristic impressionist dynamism paired with bright colors, especially in paintings depicting masculine beauty. On the contrary, in his girls and women portraiture, Mr. Torres used more subdued, tranquil, and angelical palette. Reynaldo Torres was a prolific artist who also designed album covers for Mexican musicians. Reynaldo Torres was born in Tijuana in 1932. He moved to Mexico, D.F. in 1957. Mr. Torres lived in Colonia Condesa, now a hipster neighborhood in Mexico City, that was popular among artists back in 1960s. He died in 2014.
