Item description

Grosset Dunlap. Copyright 1959; text was never revised. This is the original 20-chapter text, the ninth printing, produced in 1961, Farah-coded 1961B-9. This was the last printing with a dust jacket, all the following prints were picture cover books. #36 in the series. Very good book. Sturdy spine and hinges, lovely blue multiscene endpapers. Prior owner name on the reverse of the front free endpaper, and the prior owner checked off book titles on the rear dust jacket flap, but no other writing/marking. Internal book list page lists to Fire Dragon and to Dana Girls Sierra Gold Mystery. Very nice dust jacket with some chipping at spine top and bottom, and front fold corners. Dust jacket rear lists to Dana Girls Bamboo Bird. The dust jacket rear has the year "1959" written at the top left, and there is a little abrasion damage at the bottom, at the Grosset and Dunlap address line - it looks like label removal damage, except that it would have been an unusual spot to attach a label in the first place (see picture). Blue-inked page block, very slight spine slant. Overall, a very nice 9th printing, valued in Farah's Guide (12th ptg) at $70.00 when in "very good" condition. Protected in mylar. Note to New York state residents: an 8.75% sales tax applies. (36D)
