23 Miles North of Lake Louise NUM-TI-JAH (Stony Indian for Marten, the Canadian Sable) was the prize catch of one time trapper, James Simpson, who operated in the North Valleys from 1896 until the area was taken into the Banff National Parks. With the con- struction of the Banff-Jasper Highway, he built this modern Lodge to replace his cabins and teepees of the old days.
