It is typically planted for both its visual interest and spring flowers. Can be trained to grow as either a shrub or small tree. Grows in an oval pyramidal shape. This shrub grows at a medium to fast rate with height increases of anywhere to 13 to more than 24" per year. The Star Magnolia grows in acidic loamy well drained soils.
