Altogether, I have been selling vintage Fisher Price and Playmobil toys for over 21 years on-line. I spent over 10 years selling on E-bay before deciding to switch to Bonanza. All of the items I sell are in at least VERY GOOD Played With Condition or above (e.g. VG+). Anything falling below this rating is clearly marked and relegated to "My Rough Room" at heavily discounted prices. Most of the the time, the items I list are in EXCELLENT -NEAR MINT condition. I meticulously describe my items and detail any noted "imperfections." I'm super "nit-picky" in describing my items because I do not want to disappoint any of my customers.
I thoroughly Q-tip clean all of my vintage FP play sets, LP, and accessories (except those clearly marked in "My Rough Room"). I spend anywhere from 1 1/2 -6 hours cleaning each and every play set I sell. My sets are IMMACULATE!
I enjoy meeting new people and helping them locate "TREASURES from the PAST" either for their personal collections or for their children. I routinely help former customers find "that toy that got away"---even if it's offered by another seller.
As a former Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, I believe these vintage Fisher Price play sets were some of the best toys EVER created to develop children's open-ended, imaginative play skills. Many of today's toys create "passive learners." By this, I mean the child just sits and watches lights flash or listens to to assorted sound effects and/or directions on how to use the toy. Children learn best by ACTIVELY playing with an item. I've worked with numerous Child Psychologists, Child Life Specialists, Early Childhood Educators, Pediatric Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists, Developmental Pediatricians, and Early Childhood Special Education Specialists. They're all in agreement that these were some of the best toys ever manufactured to develop a child's symbolic, cooperative, and dramatic play skills along with beginning narrative, or story telling, skills. These toys also promote the acquisition of assorted language-based concepts (I'd be happy to explain any of this jargon to those of you that might be interested in learning more). Suffice it to say, all of these skills are necessary for successful kindergarten entry and beyond.
Personally, I have over 23 years experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children in university, early intervention agencies, and community- based preschool programs as well as highly regarded children's hospitals. I'm an expert in locating developmentally appropriate toys for children of different ages based on their needs, interests, or abilities.
I'd love to meet you and help you find the toy of your dreams. I keep a "Wish List" of toys that buyers are searching for and I'd be happy to help you find your missing "treasures" from your childhood. Feel free to contact me and I'll promptly get back to you.
