Item description
Vintage original 27 x 41 in. US one-sheet poster from the 1960s British remake of the classic 1930s horror thriller, THE OLD DARK HOUSE, released in the US in 1963 by Columbia Pictures and directed by Willian Castle. In England, an American car salesman ends-up spending a stormy night at the mysterious and deadly mansion of a client's family. The cast includes Tom Position, Robert Morley, Janette Scott, and Joyce Grenfell.
Unrestored and folded as originally issued, it is in very fine- condition as shown with a Canadian censor stamp.
Boris Karloff, who played the sinister butler Morgan in The Old Dark House (1932), was offered a role in this one as well, but turned it down because he didn't like the script and considered it too biased towards comedy instead of horror. The drawings in the title sequence were by Charles Addams, whose whole career was inspired by the 1932 version of The Old Dark House (1932) (of which this is a remake).
