Item description
Vintage original 47x63 in. French poster from the classic 1960's Walt Disney canine-themed comedy, THE UGLY DACHSHUND, rebased in 1966 by the Buena Vista Distribution Company and directed by Norman Tokar. The Garrisons (Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette) live with a Great Dane who thinks he's a dainty dachshund. His identity crisis results in an uproarious series of household crises that reduce the Garrisons' house to shambles. The cast includes Charles Ruggles, Kelly Thordsen, Parley Baer, Robert Kino, Mako, and Charles Lane.
This poster was issued for the film's original theatrical release in France and the artwork, which depicts a large image of the Garrisons (Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette) leaning in to kiss each other while canine chaos reigns around them. As it was in the U.S., this film was r
eleased on a bill with the 1966 cartoon featurette, Winnie The Pooh and the Honey Tree (1966), which is noted along the bottom of the poster and depicts Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, Rabbit, Owl, Gopher, Kanga, and Eeyore. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, this vintage original French poster is in good- condition only with small tears, paper loss, and curls along the edges; random separation and small areas of paper loss along various portions of the fold lines; a small circular Canadian censor sticker affixed above Miss Pleshette's last name; and random creases of varying sizes across the poster, with larger creases in the top and bottom panels. The color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
