Item description
Vintage original 7.75 x 11 in. US double-weight matte photograph from the 1970's psychological disintegration-themed thriller drama, THE TENANT, released in 1976 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Roman Polanski, in which a bureaucrat rents a Paris apartment where he finds himself drawn into a rabbit hole of dangerous paranoia.
As per the orignal paper snipe that is taped to the verso, the image depicts: "Unit filming a scene where SHELLEY WINTERS as the Concierge of an apartment building in Paris shows prospective new tenant Trelkovsky (ROMAN POLANSKI) where the previous occupant, a Mlle. Choule, had fallen to her death. Foreground, L. to R.: Assistant director MARC GRUNEBAUM, Camera Operator JEAN HARNOIS, Boom operator LOUIS GIMEL, Director of Photography SVEN NYKVIST." Taken by photographer B. Prim, it is in fine condition.
Along with Repulsion (1965) and Rosemary's Baby (1968), this film is part of a loose trilogy by Roman Polanski dealing with the horrors faced by apartment and city dwellers. Although Polanski plays the leading role in the film, he is given no screen credit as an actor and dubbed himself in the Italian version.
