Item description
Vintage original 8 x 10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the 1970s dramatic biopic, THE CHRISTINE JORGENSEN STORY, released in 1970 by United Artists and directed by Irving Rapper, in which a sex-change operation changed "George" into "Christine" in 1950s Denmark.
The image depicts Christine Jorgensen (John Hansen) sitting at a sewing machine as she talks with an attractive young blonde man. It is in very fine condition as shown. This is an important piece of LGBTQ history.
One of the film's major advertising tag lines was the erroneous claim "The First Man To Become A Woman!" In truth, as the movie makes clear, others had undergone similar surgery earlier, but Jorgensen was simply the first well-publicized sex change case.
